Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Tool ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at tool-connect.com or use our web application (together, the "Platform"). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them. This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. They allow a website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size, and other display settings) over a period of time, so you do not have to re-enter them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
We also use similar technologies for the same purposes, including:
- Local storage: small amounts of data stored in your browser for application functionality and preferences.
- Session storage: temporary storage that is cleared once you close the tab or browser.
- Pixels and tags: small invisible images used in combination with cookies to measure interactions.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies for the following purposes:
- To make the Platform work correctly and securely (e.g. to keep you signed in).
- To remember your preferences (language, location, display settings).
- To understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it and fix issues.
- In the future, to measure the performance of marketing campaigns (with your consent only).
3. Types of cookies we use
The cookies we use can be grouped into three categories based on their purpose:
3.1 Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set only in response to actions you take that amount to a request for services — such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information for marketing purposes.
Legal basis (GDPR): legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and the "strictly necessary" exemption under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| tool-connect-auth | Tool (Supabase Auth) | Keeps you signed in and protects your account while you browse the platform. | Until you sign out or clear browser data |
| tool_cookie_consent_v1 | Tool | Stores your cookie preferences so we do not have to ask you again on every visit. | Until you reset preferences or clear browser data |
| language | Tool | Remembers your selected language (EN / CS). | Until you clear browser data |
| tool-connect-pending-profile-type | Tool | Temporarily remembers your selected role (client or service provider) while you complete sign-up. | Removed once profile setup is complete |
| translation_* | Tool (caches Google Translate responses) | Caches translated text on your device so we do not call the translation API repeatedly for the same content. | 7 days per entry |
3.2 Analytics cookies
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of the Platform. They help us know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and anonymous.
If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited the Platform and will not be able to monitor its performance. However, the Platform will still function normally.
Legal basis (GDPR): consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. We only load these cookies when you have checked the "Analytics" box in our cookie consent tool.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors so we can see aggregated usage patterns. | 2 years |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Persists session state for analytics. | 2 years |
3.3 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use any active marketing cookies. If we deploy advertising tools in the future (such as Meta/Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag), they will only be used with your explicit consent through our cookie consent tool. These cookies could be used to measure campaign performance, exclude users who already signed up, and show relevant ads on other websites.
Legal basis (GDPR): consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
4. First-party and third-party cookies
Some cookies are set directly by us ("first-party cookies"). Others are set by companies whose services we use to make our Platform work (for example Google Analytics, Supabase) — these are called "third-party cookies". These third-party providers have their own privacy policies which we recommend you review:
- Google Analytics — policies.google.com/privacy
- Supabase — supabase.com/privacy
- Formspree — formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
- Twilio — twilio.com/legal/privacy
5. How long cookies are stored
The cookies we use can also be classified by how long they are stored:
- Session cookies: are temporary and are erased once you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: remain on your device for a predefined period (shown in the tables above) or until you manually delete them.
6. Mobile app and local storage
Our mobile app does not use browser cookies. Instead, it uses on-device local storage technologies (AsyncStorage on iOS and Android) to store authentication tokens, language preferences, and other essential app data. This data remains stored on your device until you sign out or uninstall the app.
7. How to manage your cookie preferences
7.1 Our cookie consent tool
When you first visit our Platform, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can:
- Accept all — enable all cookie categories.
- Reject non-essential — only essential cookies will be set.
- Customize — choose exactly which categories you want to enable.
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the button below, or by re-opening the tool from this Cookie Policy page.
7.2 Browser-level controls
Most web browsers let you control most cookies through your browser settings. These instructions for common browsers will help you:
Note: blocking all cookies (including essential ones) will prevent you from signing in and using certain features of the Platform.
7.3 Do Not Track signals
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal to the websites you visit. Because there is no universally agreed industry standard for DNT yet, we currently do not respond to these signals automatically. Please use our cookie consent tool described above to express your preferences.
8. What happens if you reject cookies
Rejecting non-essential cookies will not restrict your ability to browse most of the Platform or use its core features, but:
- we will not be able to measure anonymous usage patterns, which limits our ability to improve the Platform.
- some personalized features (e.g. remembering your last-used filter) may not work as expected.
- if you also block essential cookies through your browser settings, you will not be able to sign in or use features that require an account.
9. Children and minors
Our Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, as stated in our Terms and Conditions. We do not knowingly collect data from minors via cookies or any other technologies. If you believe a minor has shared data through our Platform, please contact us at info@tool-connect.com so we can delete that data.
10. Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to revisit this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
